The racket that Rafael Nadal used to secure his championship point during the 2007 French Open final against Roger Federer fetched over $118,000 in a recent auction, placing it among the most valuable tennis memorabilia.
Nadal clinched the victory with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 triumph over Federer in the Paris final, marking his third Grand Slam title on his way to a total of 20, with 14 of them achieved at Roland Garros.
This iconic racket, utilized by Nadal not only in the final against Federer but also in previous matches, including the semi-final against Novak Djokovic, was successfully sold for $118,206 at The Tennis Auction organized by Prestige Memorabilia.
The online auction concluded on Monday at 0255 GMT. Formerly displayed in the Australian Tennis Museum, the racket now holds the third spot among the most valuable tennis rackets, following Nadal’s 2022 Australian Open racket, auctioned at $139,700, and Billie Jean King’s ‘Battle of the Sexes’ racket, which sold for $125,000.
