Gary Neville claims that Man. United’s handling of the Mason Greenwood investigation has been “awful” and was just dust in the eyes of the fans.
After a half-year internal investigation, Mason will leave Old Trafford by mutual agreement.
That happened after charges against Greenwood, including attempted rape and assault, were dropped at the beginning of the year.
“Everyone knew he wouldn’t play for the Red Devils again,” ex-defender Neville spoke during Sky Sports Monday Night Football.
Gary, who played 602 matches for Manchester United, added: “The process of making it happen has been pretty awful. When you have such an important cause, and difficult circumstances like this, it requires elite authoritative leadership. And that comes from the owners. Man. United don’t have that.”
Mason (21) will continue his career away from Old Trafford as teams from Saudi Arabia are keen to sign him as a free agent.
