The league commissioner, Gary Bettman, has upheld the 6-match suspension that was given to Detroit Red Wings attacker David Perron.
The forward was suspended for 6 matches on December 11th for cross-checking Ottawa Senators player Artem Zub during the 1st period of a match on December 9th. The Red Wings player crosschecked Artem after a strike on Detroit captain Dylan Larkin and was given a match penalty for intent to hurt. Dylan was motionless on the ice after being struck by Mathieu Joseph and Parker Kelly of Ottawa.
The NHL commissioner heard the Red Wings forward’s appeal of the suspension at a hearing on December 19th. David forfeited almost 150,000 dollars during the ban, and the fines will go into the players’ emergency assistance fund.
Perron has 7 goals and 13 points in 26 matches this campaign, his 2nd with the Red Wings.
Technically it’s the NHLPA again that appeals on behalf of the player to the neutral arbitrator, and that hasn’t happened yet, but what David Perron’s agent Allan Walsh is saying here is that the NHLPA will. https://t.co/GHRjS3Bng2
