The captain of the NHL franchise from the Big Apple that plays at Madison Square Garden was fined 5,000 dollars for high-sticking Boston Bruins player Trent Frederic.
The episode appeared early in the 2nd period on yesterday’s 7-4 Rangers victory against Bruins in New York when Trouba and Frederic got into a fight in front of the home team’s net. After the referee blew the whistle, Jacob swung his stick high towards Boston’s forward, striking him in the head.
Jacob Trouba (29), who is captain of the New York Rangers, has 1 goal and 7 assists in 19 matches since the beginning of the campaign, as that is his 5th season with the Rangers.
I love how the #NHL hides behind the CBA’s “allowable” punishment on Jacob Trouba.
If Trouba played in 2000, he would have gotten at least 10 games like Scott Niedermayer’s hit on Worrell. Or never playing again like McSorely! #NJDevils #NYR #NHLBruins pic.twitter.com/0DJNcU819H
