After the closing of the transfer window, the Spanish La Liga announced the players’ salary cap of each club in the championship, Marca reports.
The biggest change is at Barcelona, with the Catalan club going from €648 million to a cap of €270 million for the 2023/2024 season. This is a drop of as much as 378 million and it is still unclear how Barcelona can handle this situation.
The club has already reduced its wage bill by 160 million, but must make a much bigger effort to cover the new demands. This did not allow the club to make big transfers in the summer. It seems that Barcelona will not be competitive with Real Madrid soon, where the salary cap is 727.5 million euros. Real even increases its cap, which was 683 million in the winter.
