Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali is officially banned from football for 10 months. The Italian international got his penalty for participating in illegal gambling and having gambling addiction.
He will also have to participate in 8-month-long gambling rehab. This penalty means his season is over and will be back in action in August 2024. This also leaves him out of the Euro 2024, if Italy qualify for the tournament next summer.

Tonali admitted on betting on football and even his former team AC Milan. His penalty is reduced because he admitted everything to the Italian prosecutors. It is yet to be seen if Newcastle will take any legal actions towards AC Milan, as reports suggest the Magpies will try to prove that the Italian club knew about Tonali’s gambling ahead of their deal during the summer.
