Florida Panthers were victorious against Montreal Canadiens 9-5 with breathtaking first period, which saw them score 7 on Thursday night.

The game reached another milestone being the dastest to reach 10 goals in NHL history after Florida scored for the 10th goal at 13:18.

Carter Verhaeghe scored twice, as did Aaron Ekblad, helping Florida achieve their forth victory in their last five games and pulling within three points of the final wild-card spot.

Colin White, Gustav Forsling, Ryan Lomberg and Sam Reinhard also scored for the Panthers, as they led the Canadiens 7-3 in the first period.

Florida maintained their lead in the second period through goals from Ekblad and Matthew Tkachuk.

Mike Matheson, Michael Pezzetta, Rem Pitlick, Anthony Richard and Rafael Harvey-Pinard scored for Montreal.
