Organizers of the 2024 Paris Olympics are launching a campaign this week to recruit 45,000 volunteers, without whom the biggest sporting forum will be virtually impossible.
Applicants will have the opportunity to be close to the biggest stars in the sport, but will not be paid for their work.
The organizers have already announced the slogan “The Games are open to everyone”, because of which they will try to get at least 3,000 volunteers with various physical difficulties. France’s minister for people with disabilities, Genevieve Daryusek, called the decision a “fantastic opportunity” to include these people as equal members of society.
Olympic volunteer applicants can submit their applications from Wednesday, March 22 to May 3. To have a chance of being approved, they must speak fluent English or French and be free for a period of at least 10 days during next year’s Olympic and Paralympic Games. Applicants can apply from any country in the world, but if they are outside Europe and the Schengen area they will need additional documents.
