In just a few days, new names will be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. Players such as Dwyane Wade, Pau Gasol and Dirk Nowitzki are inducted into the Hall along with legendary coach Gregg Popovich and women’s NBA icon Becky Hammon.
Wade spent 16 years in the NBA, averaging 22 points per game. He is a three-time winner of the “Larry O’Brien” trophy. The guard spent 14 seasons in Miami, which is part of the reason Heat executive Pat Riley called Wade the greatest player in franchise history.
“As a Heat basketball player, Dwayne is the greatest player to ever grace our team,” Riley said.
“When he left there were some hard feelings on both sides. They weren’t lethal… I knew we could work it out but we didn’t. We didn’t and that’s our fault.”

“LeBron was here for four years and gave us a huge boost and helped Dwayne achieve what he wanted to achieve. But in terms of his work here in Miami, Dwayne is the greatest player to ever play for Heat. That’s not an insult to LeBron, it’s because of Wade’s longevity and the short amount of time LeBron’s been here.”
Wade and LeBron were teammates in Miami for just four years and later reunited in 2017 with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
