As we go deeper and deeper into the off-season, the Pittsburgh Penguins can be the right place for Erik Karlsson, who wants to leave the San Jose Sharks.
Pittsburgh president and interim GM Kyle Dubas shared that he had communication with San Jose about Karlsson as he told them that “he remains intrigued by the idea of adding the player, [and] that the Pens are still involved in talks with the Sharks.”
San Jose and Karlsson try to secure the best trade for him, but his 11.5 million dollar cap hit for the next 4 campaigns is a big obstacle as the franchises want the Sharks to keep a significant portion.
San Jose GM Mike Grier shared a few days ago that the franchise didn’t want to keep the max 50% of Karlsson’s cap hit to trade him.
“Why? Because it will cost a lot?” the Sharks general manager shared.
