Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey had his assault charges against him dropped in Texas after completing a pretrial diversion program.
Winfrey was arrested back in April for alleged “bodily injury”, caused on a woman he was dating.
The 22-year-old’s case has been dismissed on June 9, according to Harris Country Court documents.
Winfrey has had an up and down season in 2022 with Cleveland after getting drafted in the fourth round from Oklahoma. He had two disciplinary misconducts and by his own admission he needed to mature in order to become a real professional.
The 6-foot-4, 290-pound Winfrey is expected to be training with the team next month. The Browns will practice the first week in West Virginia.
Cleveland are hoping that Winfrey, who showed promising signs in 13 games last season, can be part of their defensive line rotation this season.
