The Pittsburgh Penguins shared that they are retiring Jaromir Jagr’s No. 68 jersey in a ceremony in February next year.
“Penguins, I’m coming home,” Jagr shared in a video posted on social media.
The Pittsburgh Penguins star Jaromir Jagr is having his number 68 retired and raised to the rafters on February 18th, 2024.

Jaromir (51) appeared in 1,733 career regular-campaign matches in the National Hockey League over 24 campaigns. Jagr ranks 4th all-time in matches played and goals (766) and 5th in assists (1,155), and only Wayne Gretzky (2,857) has earned more points than him, who has 1,921. No player in the league’s history has more match-winning goals than Jagr’s 135.
He became a superstar with Pittsburgh over 11 campaigns, triumphing with the Stanley Cup 2 times and earning 1,079 points in 806 matches.
But his period with the organization ended strangely in 2001 when the Penguins traded him to the Washington Capitals to begin a rebuild. In 2011, he had the chance to return to the Penguins but preferred to join the Philadelphia Flyers, and Pittsburgh supporters even booed him while playing for the Flyers.
