The infielder (33) participated in 1,155 matches across thirteen minor league years. Still, finally, Pittsburgh Pirates selected him a few days ago, and today he entered the game as a pinch hitter in the 8th inning as the Pirates trashed the Los Angeles Dodgers 8-1.
Drew got a pinch strike for Andrew McCutchen with 1 out in the 8th period, and everyone cheered him – his teammates and the stadium.
“I really can’t (put it into words),” Maggi said in an interview on the field after the victory.
“I can’t explain how I was feeling on the pitch. I didn’t even know what to do. You guys were supporting me. I don’t know; I never forecasted that.
Through the adventure, I thought I’d make my opener, which would be normal at bat. Certainly unique, but the crowd cheering my name, I got my family on the stands, my 3 brothers and a sister at the house. I mean, this is beyond expectations. Thank you to each one of you.”
