Match official Szymon Marcinak was picked to referee the Champions League final between Manchester City and Inter Milan on June 10th.
Marcinak famously was in charge of that memorable game between France and Argentina at the 2022 World Cup final. He received huge praise for handling one of the most nerve-wracking matches in football history.
Therefore, UEFA have opted for him, meaning the 42-year-old will achieve a highly prestigious feat of officiating the two biggest finals of national and European soccer in the same season.
The previous referee, who achieved this feat was Howard Webb back in 2010, when he officiated both Bayern-Inter and Spain-Netherlands finals.
Marcinak has an experience of officiating both of the finalists matches on their road to Istanbul- Manchester City’s 2nd leg 1/2 final win over Real Madrid and Inter’s 0-0 draw with Porto in the last 16.
