Porto won 4-1 away to Antwerp in a Champions League group stage match, with defender Pepe setting a new record in Europe’s most elite football competition.

The veteran started the match in Belgium at the age of 40 years and 241 days, making him the oldest player in Champions League history, excluding goalkeepers.

Pepe broke the record of Roberto Donadoni and David Weir, as both players  played in the Champions League at 40 years and 211 days in 2006 and 2011 respectively. With the win, Porto jumped to second place in group H, having six points – three less than the leader Barcelona and leaving Shakhtar and Antwerp behind them.
