Rasmus Andersson has received a 4-game suspension from the NHL’s player safety department for charging Columbus Blue Jackets forward Patrick Laine in Friday’s 3-1 loss.

The incident happened right towards the end, when Laine slotted the pluck into the empty net and Andersson stormed onto him. The defenseman was given a game misconduct and received a penalty for elbowing.
“Andersson launches upward into Laine, elevating unnecessarily and making significant contact to Laine’s head with his elbow, causing an injury,” said the NHL’s video explanation of the incident.
Andersson was called to a hearing on Saturday, but was unable to defend his case and received a supplemental discipline.
The 26-year-old had a solid start to the season, notching 2 assists and 3 points in five games.
