Red Bull gives Perez an ultimatum to keep his place for 2024

The situation around Sergio Perez and his future at Red Bull and Formula 1 as a whole remains very unclear. Different information circulates in the media and it goes from the rumors that the Mexican will certainly stay with the club for at least one more season to the possible departure after the last race this year.

According to Ge Globo, the Austrian team has put an ultimatum to Perez in order to keep his seat for 2024. In order to stay, he will have to keep his second place in the drivers’ championship.

His teammate Max Verstappen already wrapped up his third consecutive world title and has a huge advantage in front of him. As it stands right now, Perez is second with 224 points ahead of Lewis Hamilton with 194 and Fernando Alonso with 183.

The Formula 1 season has five start till the end, including Perez’s home grand prix in Mexico on October 29. If Perez falls down to third, it is almost certain that Daniel Ricciardo will return to Red Bull alongside Verstappen.
