In a bizare turn of events the Boston team prevails

The Boston Red Sox came out on top in their clash with Minnesota Twins 5-4 on Tuesday night.

The will be remembered with the extraordinary finish it produced as Alex Verdugo snatched victory with two outs in the 10th inning on a fly ball that almost crossed over the fence.

At first, match officials weren’t sure of the Verdugo’s drive, which bounced off the low wall in the right field, but eventually declared it a hit and therefore the end of the game.

Reese McGuire tied it up with a two-run single as the Red Sox were playing catch-up after allowing two runs in the top of the 10th. McGuire entered as a pinch hitter in the eighth and forced a key defensive error from Christian Vázquez , who was called for catcher’s interference. That little sequence enabled Boston to score once in the eighth and eventually force the extra inning, which featured more offense than the previous nine combined.

“The home plate umpire called it right away, so I knew I was going to be granted first base no matter what,”the delighted McGuire shared. “Then when I saw the third baseman come in and field it and make a throw to first, no one was covering so Kiké (Hernández) intelligently just kept running to third.”
