Mohamed Salah will be sidelined for 2 games at the Africa Cup of Nations after sustaining a back strain in his country’s 2-2 draw against Ghana on Thursday, but the superstar has avoided a more significant injury.

Liverpool’s forward limped off near the end of the 1st half, prompting fears that his tournament was over and put at risk his participation in the Reds EPL title challenge would be affected.
However, it became clear that Salah could be set to return to action for the AFCON ¼ finals on February 2nd and 3rd.
“Mohamed Salah has sustained a strain in his back muscle and will be sidelined for 2 games at the tournament,” a statement on the Egyptian Federation’s site started.
“The x-rays that Egyptian national team captain Mohamed underwent showed that he sustained a strain in the posterior muscle and could not play in the nation’s next 2 games at the tournament – vs. Cape Verde, and then the ¼ finals if Egypt advances.”
