The venue is slowly wearing away according to AC Milan and Inter, but the municipality thinks otherwise
Milan officially confirmed that San Siro stadium wants to host the final of the Champions League. The mayor of the city confirmed the proposal to be a home of the final in 2026 or 2027.
It will see the return of the biggest game in club football to Milan in a decade since Real Madrid beat Atletico Madrid on penalties in 2016.
The news comes at an interesting time when both Inter and AC Milan have announced plans to leave the facility and build their own stadiums outside the city, because according to them, the venue is wearing away irreversibly and a renovation is not an option.
UEFA will confirm the host of the 2026 and 2027 Champions League finals in May 2024.
