Serbia advanced to the FIBA World Cup final after defeating Canada 95:86 (23:15, 29:24, 23:24, 20:23) in Manila. In the game for the title, the Serbs will face the winner of the other semi-final between the USA and Germany.
Team Canada appeared to be the favorite, not because they had seven NBA players available, but it also had the rising star of Purdue University’s 6-foot-1 Zach Eady.
Canada proved its high level, because they eliminated Slovenia with Luka Doncic in the line-up and eliminated France with a 30 point difference.
Serbia reached the World Cup finals for the fourth time in their history, with their last appearance there in 2014 when they fell to the USA in Madrid. Three years later – at the European Championship in 2017, they also reached the final of the European Championship.
