Red Bull driver Sergio Perez has hinted for the first time that he is starting to think about life away from the team. With the Mexican’s contract expiring at the end of the 2024 F1 season, Perez is in his third season at Red Bull, with team-mate Max Verstappen performing strongly each year stronger than him. Since the two have been teammates, Verstappen has won 37 races and Perez just five.
Every year there are speculations that Red Bull could release Perez and this season is no exception, with doctor Helmut Marko starting them, but in the end, Christian Horner confirmed that Perez is staying with the team next year. Perez spoke to DAZN Spain that next year he will negotiate with the team bosses about his future, but admitted that there is an option not to stay at Red Bull.
“We will negotiate, but if there is no possibility for me to stay for 2025, I will look for other alternatives. But now I’m mainly focused on winning races again, winning titles with Red Bull. I’m under contract until the end of next season and sometime next year we’ll have those talks.”, he said.
