Shane Pinto shared via the Ottawa Senators today apologizing for his 41-match ban.
“I want to apologize to the NHL, to my organization, my teammates, the supporters, and to our city and most importantly my family,” Shane wrote. “I take full responsibility for what I did and look forward to returning and being able to play hockey in the league again.”
National Hockey League announced the suspension of Pinto for “activities related to betting on sports” today, adding that its probe found no evidence that the player bet on NHL matches.
Shane didn’t play this season yet as he remains an uninked restricted free agent.
The Canadian NHL franchise wrote that they support the league’s rules on wagering, and while they are not happy that their player is suspended, they understand it and that they will help Pinto get through this hard period and return stronger.
