MLB decided to make the games this season quicker with the addition of the pitch clock.
However, this also limits the time the fans in the stands can consume beer.
To contest this, 4 teams so far – Arizona Diamondbacks, Texas Rangers, Minnesota Twins, and Milwaukee Brewers decided to sell alcohol from the beginning till the 8th inning this year. Miami Marlins and New York Mets still sell beer through the 7th inning but can change that in the near future.
MLB games are now 30 minutes quicker than last year.
That translates to a loss of $280,000 to $1.1 million in lost beer sales throughout the season, depending on the stadium.
So several teams (Brewers, Twins, Diamondbacks, and Rangers) have already extended their beer sales…

Baltimore Orioles have another rule – to sell the frosty beverage through the 8th inning or until 3 and a half hours since the beginning of the match – which happens first.
With the new rules from Major League Baseball, the games are already down with an average of 30 minutes so far this season.
