Tottenham Hotspur missed a great chance to temporary jump to 3rd place in the Premier League after leading 1-0 against Everton at Goodison Park on Monday night.
However, the London team once again conceded a late equalizer after a stunning strike from Michael Keane. The result meant that Spurs stay 4th with 50 points, tied with both Newcastle United and Manchester United in 5th, but having two games in hand.
In a post-match interview interim manager Cristian Stellini admitted that Tottenham have to improve if they want to finish in the top 4.
The new boss also defended his star player Harry Kane after the striker was patronized by the home supporters for being a “cheat”. The situation in question is the red card of Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucore, who was sent off in the 58th minute for pushing Kane. From the Everton perspective Kane came down too easily, but that wasn’t the case as far as Stellini was concerned.
“It happens sometimes,” he said. “It is normal. With the fans, you have to realize the situation. I think it was a good decision.”
The 1-1 draw is yet another setback in Tottenham’s campaign that seems to go from bad to worse.
