Jason Robertson’s first career playoff hat trick propelled the Dallas Stars to a crucial 5-3 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Monday night in Game 3 of the Western Conference final.
Despite not a single hat hitting the ice to celebrate Robertson’s milestone, the Stars were jubilant as they overcame a 2-0 first-period deficit with a dominant performance in the final two periods, taking a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series. Game 4 is scheduled for Wednesday in Edmonton.

Robertson’s third goal of the night, his sixth of the playoffs, broke a 3-3 tie with just over eight minutes remaining. After snapping a 10-game goal drought with two second-period goals, he completed his hat trick by banking a sharp-angled shot off Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner and into the net.
The Oilers initially grabbed a two-goal lead with Zach Hyman scoring just 2:02 into the game, deflecting a shot from Connor McDavid for his 13th goal of the playoffs. McDavid then doubled the lead at 7:37, fending off a check to slip a loose puck into the net for his fourth playoff goal.
However, the Stars responded emphatically in the second period. Robertson put Dallas on the board at 5:35 with a top-corner one-timer from the left faceoff dot, then tied the game at 8:05 with a long backhand shot from the slot. Wyatt Johnston quickly followed with a goal 63 seconds later, capitalizing on a loose puck at the doorstep for his eighth of the postseason.
Adam Henrique, making his return after missing seven games due to injury, tied the game for the Oilers with a deft redirect of a pass for his second playoff goal with just 52.5 seconds remaining in the second period. This set the stage for Robertson’s decisive goal in the third period, and Miro Heiskanen sealed the win with an empty-net goal.
For the second consecutive game, the Stars were outplayed in the first period but managed to recover and pull away in the third period. Their resilience and ability to adjust mid-game have been key factors in their playoff success so far.
