No contract was offered in the days since the player and his agent shared with the public their demands.
Mike, who turned 30 in August, will play the upcoming campaign – the last in his current deal – before becoming a free agent during the offseason. The deadline passing is not expected to affect the wide receiver’s availability this year.
Discussions about a new deal have happened in the last 2 years, with short and long-term offers proposed to extend Evans’ time with the Buccaneers beyond 10 seasons. The time of the contract was less important for Mike than the guarantees, who shared that he demands security with his next contract.
Sources share that the ownership refused to offer Evans what he wanted other than the front office. The Glazer family used 100 million dollars from the future to bring Tom Brady to Tampa Bay for 3 years.
