The NBA introduces in-season tournament game

The NBA officially announced a new 7-year agreement with the NBPA: “The NBA and National Basketball Players Association have reached a tentative agreement on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement, pending ratification by players and team governors. Specific details will be made available once a term sheet is finalized”.

A new in-season tournament could come as soon as the 2023-24 season, with “pool-play games baked into the regular-season schedule starting in November, with eight teams advancing to a single-elimination tournament in December. The Final Four will be held at a neutral site, with Las Vegas prominent in the discussion”, as reported by ESPN.
