FIA should release their results by the end of July

The FIA is due to announce the results of compliance with the budget ceiling for the 2022 Formula 1 season. According to the Italian site motorsport.com, three of the ten teams in the world championship breached financial restrictions for last season and will not receive the green certificate from FIA.

The most serious breach in the history of the budget cap so far belongs to world champions Red Bull for the 2021 season, which saw them fined $7 million and a 10 percent reduction in wind tunnel time over a 12-month period. For 2021, Aston Martin and Williams also committed infringements, but theirs were very minor and turned out to be procedural errors. Information about violations of the budget ceiling for the 2022 season in Formula 1 has not yet been confirmed, and this is unlikely to happen until the official announcement of the results by the FIA. As the processing of last year’s data was accelerated, the deadline for the submission of results was pushed to the end of July in order to have some logical connection with the past season.

In 2022, the results for the 2021 season were only announced in October and it was already very difficult to expect any sanctions against Red Bull. Also, the FIA will find itself in an interesting situation if Red Bull have breached the budget cap again, as we will now have a relapse from the world champions and much stricter measures will be required. Because Red Bull’s ten wins in the first 10 races this year show that the fine and the restriction of working in the wind tunnel do not act as serious as it was expected.
