The Vancouver Canucks decided to buy out the deal of Oliver Ekman-Larsson; as a result, the defenceman would become an unrestricted free agent.

Ekman-Larsson (31) was on the ice in 54 matches in the last campaign, as he scored 2 goals and gave 20 assists.
He has 4 more seasons remaining on an 8-year, 66 million dollar deal as he gets paid more than 8 million dollars annually. With the buyout, part of his salary will be vs. the Canucks’ cap through the 2028-29 campaign.
Oliver joined the Canadian team from the Arizona Coyotes before the 2021-22 campaign began.
