Wheeler, who has been captain of Winnipeg from 2016-2022 during his 13 seasons with the organization, returns to his ex-team after being bought out during the offseason.
“I really have only admiration for that place and everything it’s meant to me, my career, my family, all the friends that still live in this place,” Wheeler shared with the media ahead of his return. “It’ll be an amazing experience after all the years that I spent here, and I will try to gain only positive emotions from the match on Monday.”
After being part of the Boston Bruins for the 1st 3 campaigns of his career in the NHL, Blake was traded to the Atlanta Thrashers.
After notching 16 goals and earning 55 points in 72 matches with Winnipeg in the past campaign, the forward is still looking for his 1st point with New York.
