The Wisconsin state Assembly had a meeting on Tuesday to approve a Republican-authored plan to spend more than half-a-billion dollars from public spending to help cover repairs at the Milwaukee Brewers’ stadium.
The team wants to replace the glass outfield doors, seats and concourse and luxury suites and video scoreboard also need upgrades. The stadium’s famous retractable roof, fire suppression systems, parking lots, elevators and escalators need to be renewed as well.
The Assembly plan calls for the state to contribute $411 million and the city of Milwaukee and Milwaukee County to contribute a combined $135 million. The state money would come in the form of grants.
The Brewers have granted they will contribute $100 million to repairs and in exchange to extend their lease at the stadium through 2050.
