The launch of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s simulator golf league has been rescheduled for January 2025, a year later than originally planned, due to a roof collapse at the Florida-based facility housing the league, according to organizers of the TGL.
The TGL, featuring six teams of four PGA Tour players competing in a fast-paced format of team golf, will kick off on January 7 in primetime on ESPN. The matches will take place inside a new steel-supported structure unveiled alongside Monday’s announcement. Subsequent matches are scheduled for January 14 and January 21, strategically timed to coincide with ESPN’s coverage of the National Football League and U.S. college football playoffs.
TGL will officially launch on January 7th, 2025.

Managed by TMRW Sports, a tech-focused sports company established by Woods and McIlroy in 2022, the TGL will see participation from both golf icons. Players will tee off from real grass tee boxes, engaging in custom-designed virtual holes projected onto a massive screen. Upon reaching approximately 50 yards from the hole, teams will transition to live action, finishing each hole on a short game complex that transforms between holes.
The innovative GreenZone will introduce unique elements to each hole, featuring a 41-yard-wide turntable to rotate greens and bunkers for varied approach angles. Motorized actuators embedded beneath the putting surface will alter its topography for added challenge and realism.
The delay in the league’s launch was prompted by a power outage two months before its original January 2024 debut, resulting in deflation and damage to the air-supported dome section of the TGL venue.
