Enzo Fernandez proved to be the hero for the Blues as he netted his first goals in the Premier League and what a time to do it. Fernandez put the hosts in front after 20 minutes heading the ball home after a fine cross.
Not long after Chelsea were 2-0 up thanks to Levi Colwill, who also headed a fine cross.
However, the Seagulls were quick to respond and just before half-time reduced their deficit to 2-1 with a superb hit from Facundo Buananotte.
Things got from bad to worse for the home team, as Connor Galagher saw red in the 65th minute for a second bookable offense. But up stepped Fernandez to give his team a two goal cushion again.
Brighton came back again late on and were knocking on the door for a point, but the Blues managed to hold on and emerge as winners.
