The winger, who triumphed with back-to-back Stanley Cup titles with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2016 and 2017, shared today that he is retiring after spending 15 years in the NHL.
The player from Sweden played for the Florida Panthers in the last 3 years but only took part in 22 matches in the past campaign, as he suffered from a head injury that he sustained in December in the clash vs. the Seattle Kraken.
“I’m feeling better now, and hopefully, I can enjoy many good years ahead of me, and with my injury problems during my career, I don’t want to risk potential new ones,” the Swede shared.
Patric record in the NHL is 264 goals and 279 assists in 901 regular-season matches with Nashville, Pittsburgh, and Florida. The winger also notched 28 goals and gave 28 assists in 103 postseason matches.
