Tobias Harris bagged home 25 points along with 12 rebounds, while James Harden finished with 17 points, 11 assists and 8 rebounds.
The third seeded team will await their opponent from the Boston Celtic and Atlanta Hawks clash, where the Celtics lead by 2-1.
The 76ers will be hoping Embiid will make recovery in time for the second round, as they, despite the success, struggled to score in his absence.
Paul Reed replaced Embiid in the starting lineup and he managed a respectable 10 points and 15 rebounds.
Spencer Dinwiddie had 20 points for the Nets, while Nic Claxton added another 19 for a dismal display from the Brooklyn team, who have suffered a sweeping defeat in the playoffs for a second consecutive year. Their record against the 76ers is even more abysmal – 8 defeats from 8 meetings.
This was also their 10th straight postseason defeat.
