"There was a very strong opponent against us", Pioli said

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli did not hide his disappointment at the team’s elimination in the semi-finals of the Champions League. The Rossoneri lost the second leg against their rival Inter 0:1 and left the tournament with a 0:3 aggregate. In the two matches, Milan shot a total of only two accurate shots at the opponent’s goal.

“Let’s not lie, we are very disappointed. We’ve had a great run in the Champions League, we’ve beaten teams like Tottenham and Napoli, and we were hoping to reach the final. Not a single team that was eliminated in the group stage last season has now managed to qualify for the semi-finals. We are angry because the first 15 minutes of last week’s game proved to be fatal. There was a very strong opponent against us, but in general we behaved with dignity. We have our chances tonight, but obviously we didn’t do enough to use them,” said Pioli.

“I can’t blame the players for anything. They did their best, they tried very hard. Now we have to finish the season in the best possible way”, he added.
