Al Ahly secured the bronze medals at the Club World Cup held in Saudi Arabia after defeating Japan’s Urawa Reds 4-2 in the third-place playoff.
In Jeddah, the champions of Asia and Africa delivered an entertaining match, ultimately securing a third-place finish for the Egyptian giants who had finished fourth in the competition last year.
Al Ahly quickly took the lead with two goals from Yasser Ibrahim and Percy Tau. However, the Japanese team fought back with goals from Jose Cante and Alexander Sholz just before and after halftime.

An own goal by Yoshio Koizumi restored Al Ahli’s lead in the 60th minute, and Ali Maaloul sealed the victory for the Egyptians in the eighth minute of added time.
