Saudi Arabian team Al-Hilal are set to offer Lionel Messi a record-braking €220-a-year contract, which would make the Argentinian superstar the highest-paid footballer.
The 35-years old contract with PSG expires this summer and it is unlikely to get renewed after both parties seem fail to come to terms.
Al-Hilal were hit with a transfer ban, but once it expires, the team will be looking to take full advantage of the Argentinian’s uncertainties about his future.
Earlier this year, their rivals Al-Nassr pulled of one of the transfers of the century after signing Cristiano Ronaldo for a reported €190m-a-year deal. Al-Hilal are keen to use the same method to lure the Argentinian superstar, which would see him reignite the competition with his long-time rival Ronaldo.
