Carlos Alcaraz has regained his No.1 spot at the top of the ATP rankings on Monday, which means he will be first-seeded for the upcoming French open.
Russian Daniil Medvedev has climbed up to second after his Italian Open triumph, while Novak Djokovic has dropped down to third after his fourth round loss as the defending champion in Rome.
That opens the door for a potential semi-final clash between Alcaraz and Djokovic if the two are drawn in the same bracket.
Alcaraz will go into the French Open as top-seed for the first time in his career as far as grand-slam event is concerned.
As for the women, Iga Swiatek keeps her No.1 spot, which she has held for over an year, followed by Aryna Sabalenka.
Swiatek withdrew from Rome midway through her 1/4 final match against Elena Rybakina, but later revealed the injury shouldn’t be serious.
Rybakina’s triumph at Rome has send her to career-high No.4, behind Jessica Pegula in No.3.
