World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz (Spain) qualified for Wimbledon second round.
He defeated 36-year-old French veteran Jeremy Chardy 6-0, 6-2, 7-5 after 113 minutes of play on Wimbledon’s rain-covered Court No. 1.
The 20-year-old Spaniard won 11 of the first 12 games, having problems only in the third set, in which he made a comeback after trailing 2:4.

It was the last match of the 18-year career for Chardy , who has reached the 25th place in the world rankings. The Frenchman finished his tennis journey with one title in Stuttgart in 2009 and two more ATP finals.
