Alcaraz eliminates Purcell and advances to 1/2 finals in Cincinnati

Carlos Alcaraz, world number 1, won against world number 70, Max Purcell, 2-1 sets and will play in the semifinal at the Masters 1000 in Cincinnati.

Purcell, who was a heavy underdog, shocked the fans and triumphed in the 1^st set 6-4 after converting 1 break from 1 chance. The Spaniard also had 1 chance to break his opponent’s serve in the 1^st set but missed it.

In the 2^nd set, Carlos won 6-3 after this time, converting the only chance that he had to break Max’s serve, as the Australian had no chance to do that.

Alcaraz released 2 breaks from 7 opportunities in the 3^rd set and won it 6-4, as the 2^nd break was when Purcell served to tie the game 5-5.

In the ½ finals, Carlos will play against world number 20, Hubert Hurkacz, who defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alexei Popyrin in his previous 2 matches in Cincinnati.
