The Spaniard won the 1^st set 7-5 for almost 1 hour and a half. Alcaraz had 12 opportunities to break his opponent’s serve but converted 2, which was enough to win the set after allowing 1 break.

In the 2^nd set, however, Thompson converted 2 breaks and allowed 1 break to triumph 6-4. In the deciding set, Alcaraz showed why he is the world number 1 and played his best tennis in the match. He converted 2 from 4 opportunities for a break and didn’t allow his Australian opponent any break chances.
