Carlos Alcaraz qualified for the third round of the Rome Masters. He thinks it’s “crazy” to be seeded No. 1 in the upcoming Grand Slam Roland Garros.
Alcaraz, who turned 20 this month, won the US Open title in September, becoming the youngest tennis player to top the world rankings. He will overtake Novak Djokovic again after the Rome tournament and will lead the French Open brackets between May 28 and June 11.
“It’s great to be ranked number 1 at Roland Garros, at a Grand Slam tournament. It’s crazy,” Carlos Alcaraz said in the Italian capital.

“A few years ago I wouldn’t have believed it, but now I’m very happy. Actually, it doesn’t change much. I’m just focused on the tournaments, on my game and every match. But of course, it’s something great. I think I’ve progressed a lot for one year, I have more experience, I played more matches,” added the Spaniard, who is among the favorites for the trophy in Paris.
“I would say that in just one year I am a completely different player. I read the game better than last year,” Alcaraz also shared.
