Carlos Alcaraz is the new champion of Wimbledon after he managed to beat Novak Djokovic 3:2 in nearly five hours of play.
Most of the experts didn’t expect Alcaraz to be strong on grass this season, thinking it is the surface he will feel the most uncomfortable, but he proved everybody wrong, beating non other than the Master of this tournament – Novak Djokovic. The Serbian didn’t register a defeat at Centre Court almost 10 years – since 2013, but today he had to settle for a runner-up.

In the first set, Djokovic was absolutely unmistakable, taking a quick 5-0 lead with two breaks. Alcaraz managed to win one game, enough not to lose to zero, and with a game to zero, the Serbian closed the first set.
Next two sets, though, were a different story and Alcaraz won the second through tiebreak and the third at 6-1 almost replicating Djokovic’s first set win.
The fourth set was tilted in Djokovic’s favor once again, making an important break that led him to 6-3 in the set. It all came down to the final fifth set where both players started pretty well, but the Serbian had the first chance to break in the third set. He had a golden opportunity at 30-40, but sent a volley into the net. Afterwards Alcaraz got a break himself and that was enough for the win.
“There’s a new King!”
Huge congratulations
