The Spaniard will face Karen Khachanov in the next round
Carlos Alcaraz qualified for the quarterfinals of the Madrid Masters after he defeated the 2018 and 2021 champion Alexander Zverev 6-1, 6-2 in 81 minutes of play.
Both players faced each other in a repeat of last year’s final.
The Spaniard, who will turn 20 on May 5, won 33 of the 41 points played on his own serve and did not give his opponent a single break opportunity in the match. Thus, Alcaraz will face Karen Khachanov from Russia, who eliminated his fellow countryman Andrei Rublev.
