Alex Galcheyuk has reportedly used racial slur towards an officer in training and threatened to have two more killed last weekend.
It was these actions that led the Arizona Coyotes eventually terminate his contract on Friday.
The report further elaborates that the 29-year-old use his connection with Moscow to make threats. Galchenyuk, who was born in the U.S. to Belarusian parents and spent much of his childhood in Russia, uttered a racial slur several times while referring to the officer in training, the report said.
The club were quick to react as they immediately terminated his contract.
“We are aware of the incident involving Alex Galchenyuk and strongly condemn this type of behavior,” the Coyotes said in a statement. “Once the club was made aware of the allegations, we immediately began the process of terminating his standard player’s contract through the proper channels in conjunction with the National Hockey League.”
