Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso said that Formula 1 is entering an interesting period in the 2023 season. The Spaniard believes that the upcoming improvements to the cars could lead to a partial change in the balance of power when the championship enters European leg.
“It seems that qualifying is quite important because the race pace is very similar,” Alonso commented. “We’re entering an interesting period of the 2023 season. To be honest, I’ll be keeping a close eye on which team develops their car faster,” added the Aston Martin driver.
Alonso believes the first three races have been a transition period for all the teams. The two-time world champion believes that the level of teams will change quite dynamically when F1 enters Europe.
“The first three races were hosted away from Europe. That’s why it was quite difficult to make big improvements and other things like that. But from now on, maybe we’ll see the level of teams change little by little and race by race. It will all depend on which team will be able to take a bigger step forward in their development.”
