Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti casually dismissed speculations about the potential acquisition of French forward Kylian Mbappe when his contract with Paris Saint-Germain concludes at the end of this season. Ancelotti, seemingly unfazed by the ongoing rumors, redirected the focus to the imminent match against Rayo Vallecano.
Addressing the media in a press conference on Saturday, Ancelotti emphasized, “I understand it’s the topic of the day for you, but for us, it’s tomorrow’s game against Rayo Vallecano. We have to do well. That’s what is on my mind.”
Mbappe, 25, had previously been linked with a move to Real Madrid in 2022 but eventually opted for a contract extension with PSG. Despite persistent questions about the potential addition of the French striker to the Real Madrid roster, Ancelotti tactfully evaded direct responses, maintaining his focus on the immediate sporting challenges.
“We talked about the match. We know it’s a vital match for this season. People can talk, I understand that. I would like to finish this season well, to win titles. There is plenty of time to think about next season,” Ancelotti remarked in his usual easygoing manner.
Currently leading LaLiga with 61 points, Real Madrid recently dealt a significant blow to Girona’s title aspirations with a resounding 4-0 victory. Girona, sitting in second place with 56 points, faces another formidable challenge on Monday against in-form Athletic Bilbao, a team that has not dropped a point at home since October. Ancelotti remains focused on the immediate tasks at hand, showcasing his commitment to achieving success in the current season.
