Bayern Munich suffered their third consecutive defeat, failing to gain ground in the Bundesliga title race after a 3-2 loss to Bochum.
Jamal Musiala initially gave Bayern the lead, but a delay ensued due to a protest by home fans. Bochum capitalized on the disruption, turning the game around with goals from Takuma Asano and Keven Schlotterbeck. More interruptions followed, and although Harry Kane’s late goal added tension, Bochum secured a historic victory.
Bayern now trails Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen by eight points after a tumultuous match at Bochum, featuring extended delays due to fan protests. The German champions, facing their first three-game losing streak in nine years, had control before the first interruption, thanks to Musiala’s early goal.
During the 14-minute pause, marked by tennis ball throwing on the pitch, Bochum responded strongly with Asano’s excellent strike and Schlotterbeck’s powerful header. The second half witnessed another player exit due to fan protests against the German league authority (DFL), and once again, Bochum capitalized, with Kevin Stoger converting a penalty after Dayot Upamecano received a second yellow card.
Bayern have lost back-to-back Bundesliga games for the first time since December 2019:
